The History of

(short as it may be)

June 28, 1999

Matt Heffernan, an amateur web developer since 1996, ran several webpages, some more popular than others. His first domain was, named for a lyric in a Lewis Carroll poem. This domain was used to forward visitors to his ISP account for both web content and email. His most successful area on this site was (and still is) Matt Heffernan's "South Park" Page. With the release of the new film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, he wanted to write a full review of the film, not just a capsule summary, like he did for each episode of the TV series.

He always wanted to create a website devoted to film, and this was a good time to start one. After searching months before for a good film-related domain, on this night he thought of "". In a flash, there it was. After quickly checking for its availability, he was amazed that it was, and immediately jumped on it. On that night he decided that he would no longer be just another film buff, but an actual film critic. So this means going to every film that comes out. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

The site is now in full operation, with the domain recognized on all servers. The first set of reviews appear in The Internet Movie Database. Every Monday since then, more reviews have been listed, constantly exposing new people to the site.
